WEGEMT was invited to participate in a Stakeholders’ Workshop, which took place in Brussels on 15 and 16 October 2019.

The workshop was part of the final phase of the Study on Social Aspects within the Maritime Transport Sector conducted by Coffey, TIS, Oxford Research and the World Maritime University on behalf of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE). The objective of this study is to identify topics and potential solutions, which can contribute to ensure adequate working and living conditions of seafarers and to guarantee the attractiveness of the seafarer profession.

The workshop gathered major stakeholders from the maritime transport sector in the EU – from the legislators, through social partners to practitioners. The participants also discussed pertinent findings from EU funded projects that WEGEMT is involved in (i.e. MATES, IMPRESSIVE, SKILLFUL, BEOPEN, TRAVISIONS 2020, DriveToThe Future).
