An intensive course in the field of vibration, noise and shock on board ships was developed aiming at improving the knowledge and sensitivity to the problems related to these issues, which means not only awareness of the physical phenomena involved, their effects, and possible solutions, but also capability to transmit the related elements of knowledge in the operative environments where the students act or intend to work, in particular within Universities and marine industries. The topics covered during the 16th WEGEMT School on Noise Vibration and Shock on Board Ships were: Main Noise and Vibration Sources; Transmission; Working Spaces and Accommodations; Noise and Vibration Control in Practice; Design; and Shock. The lecture notes have been prepared by several authors, Francesco Marulo, Marinus J.A.M. De Regt, Enrico Rizzuto, Giovanni Caprino, Robert G. White, Anders C. Nilsson, Jean Louis Guyader, Annie Blanchet and Joseth K. Hammond, to name a few.
