
WEGEMT visited the Classification Society Bureau Veritas (BV) at their Hellenic, Black Sea & Adriatic Zone regional headquarters on 28 January 2020.
Dr. John Kokarakis (Technical Director at BV Hellenic, Black Sea & Adriatic Zone) and other key BV personnel met with Dr. Ioannis Ergas (Research Director at WEGEMT) to discuss about the state of play in the marine and offshore market, the challenges that the new technologies bring with respect to the needs for skills and education of personnel, and the role that BV and WEGEMT can play in taking the European higher education and future workforce to the new era of digital, green and knowledge driven economy.
Dr. Ergas conveyed a collaborative message from WEGEMT’s Chairman (Prof. Peilin Zhou) and Secretary General (Mr. George Smyrnakis) respectively, and also informed Dr. Kokarakis about the key European research projects in which WEGEMT is currently involved (MATES, TRAVISIONS2020, IMPRESSIVE, BE OPEN, SKILLFUL, DRIVE2THEFUTURE)
