Department of Naval Architecture
The Department of Naval Architecture of the University of West Attica (UNIWA) is one of the eight Departments of the School of Engineering. UNIWA is a recently established University created from the merging of ex- Technological Institution of Athens and ex-Technological Institution of Piraeus. According to official data, UNIWA is the third largest university in the country with regard to the number of undergraduate students whereas it hosts over 50,000 students in total. The University employs, on permanent basis, 608 faculty members, 138 special laboratory teaching and technical staff members, and 345 administrative staff members qualified to accomplish its high-standard teaching, research and administrative goals.
The mission of the Department of Naval Architecture is to offer high-level and qualified studies in the sector of the contemporary Naval Architecture and Technology, including advanced design methods for the assessment, optimization and construction of ships and other floating structures and their machinery and electrical installations. The quality of the offered educational services of the Department is reflected to the high absorbance of its graduates from the marine industry. The Department also offers postgraduate studies leading to a postgraduate Diploma and supports Doctoral Studies.
