Effective September 1, 2021, Dr. Sebastian Sigmund appointed professor at Bremen University. In the Faculty of Nature and Technology, Shipbuilding and Marine Technology, Nautical and Maritime Transport, Biology, Bionics Department, he represents the ship hydrodynamics department. Before his call to the Weser, the 40-year-old worked in the research and development department of Damen Shipyards in the Netherlands.

After studying shipbuilding at Kiel University of Applied Sciences, Sebastian Sigmund received his doctorate at the University of Duisburg-Essen in the field of computational fluid dynamics, the subject area: “Additional resistance and additional performance of ships in sea conditions”. In his research, Sebastian Sigmund will devote himself to increasing the energy efficiency of ships and will use methods from computational fluid dynamics and high performance computing.
